Two generations of LIVE PH employees have a casual conversation--and realizations!--after binge watching Globe Business' Connected Success Season 2 [hyperlink to YouTube]. How do they relate digital transformation and resilience IRL? Read a dialogue between a Millennial who survived dial-up internet and a Gen Z who cannot imagine life without WiFi.
Digital Transformation is Personal Reinvention
Lana (Millennial): Hey, Andi. So we’ve watched Globe Business' Connected Success Season 2. My first reaction: The episodes felt like they were talking about my work anxiety.
Andi (Gen Z): Maybe because they were? Pero pang business-level. There was talk about resilience, adaptability, and sustainable growth. I'm like… that is literally me navigating life right now in my 20s.
Lana: Yup. I can relate, especially now that AI is becoming part of our ways of working. Parang kailan lang nagtitimpla pako ng Tang habang hinihintay matapos yung dut-dut-duuuuuuut sounds sa PC bago maka-connect sa internet. Haha!
Andi: That's sooo crazy! Na-kwento nga ’yan ng tita kong trentahin. I can’t imagine! So yeah, one leader talked about embracing digital transformation instead of resisting it. Some hesitate to learn talaga new tools, but I'm all for it. Big bear hug! Wait, how old are you na ba?
Lana: You know that trend on TikTok where someone’s head gets superimposed on a dinosaur’s body? Insert Lana’s face. Haha! Anyhow, speaking for myself, I had initial reservations about using AI--environmental impact, human reliance, is it ethical and all--but, yeah, group hug! It’s reinforcing to hear that staying curious is a winning strategy. It doesn’t mean turning your back on humanity or legacy.
Andi: True, true. I try to learn new software, take that online course (basta free!), and ask how a new platform works whenever there’s a chance. I think that transformation is still you, but evolved. Like a Pokémon! Navigating change is never easy. You need all the help you can get. Test of tibay talaga siya for me.
Resilience as a Skill
Lana: I know, right? I like when one leader mentioned that you can thrive even in uncertainty by building the future. Good point to constantly learn, experiment, and evolve in business and in life. And experiencing failure is a huge part of that. I used to think resilient people were just built differently.
Andi: Same. So whenever I experience a big shift in my life, I try to take a pause and not panic post on social media. I’m learning to reassess, seek advice, and then adjust. I guess for me, I see that as another chance to make it right. So I didn't nail a presentation. See where I can improve for the next one. Gave a wrong answer? I’m open to learning the best answer.
Lana: Yeah, I would say to go and take some time to feel the mix of emotions, but it's not the end. Resilience gets better with practice.
Collaborate for Sustainable Growth
Andi: A question in one of the episodes touched on sustainable growth among their industries. And I swear I clapped. Cooperation is so important for me at work and at home. Guys, you cannot do all the work by yourself! It’s not sustainable.
Lana: Right! From managing the workload and your budget to cooperating with other people, one has to find a system that works for you. Sustainable growth means you are still standing five years from now. Don’t crash and burn is the goal.
Simplify Where You Can
Andi: Stay alive! Haha! It’s simple but complicated because minsan, ang daming external factors working against you.
Lana: Agree. Maybe when life gets chaotic, use a simple solution? One of the most refreshing insights for me from watching Connected Success was how one of the leaders discovered using just a simple digital tool to improve their systems. Kaya pala! 'Di kailangan ng complex, expensive approaches. Sometimes, simple solutions make a difference.
Andi: Yassss! I also like the idea of leaders being open to learning from their employees. We have ideas! A simple check in on the culture to find the right approach can really help make bold strides.
So, Lana, ang dami nating takeaways! Are we big bosses yet in our own right, or what?
Lana: Emotionally? I'm still buffering, but will not shut down!
Andi: Professionally? I'm in progress. But having a growth mindset helps me navigate the big shifts in my life. Let’s face it: shift happens.
Lana: BIG shift in life and work happen. You fail, you learn, you dust yourself and get right back up.
