Are you a serial snooze-button hitter every time your alarm goes off? Same. We’ve all been there, stuck in that mid-year slump where the health and wellness goals we set in January feel like a distant memory. If your daily routine feels like a lag that’s slowing you down, it’s time for a hard reset. Sometimes, the best way to jump-start your life is with a single decision, like signing up for a race.
When I joined the first-ever Lazada Run in the Philippines, I noticed the preparation alone renewed my routine. I hadn't even run the race yet, but I was already feeling better.

Start Making an Effort (Even When It’s Hard)
Training for a race starts with the decision to move before the race begins. Once I signed up, I felt a responsibility to commit. Maybe that means waking up earlier than usual, or choosing to jog instead of doomscrolling. At first, it feels like an effort, but over time, it becomes a discipline. That discipline is where true health and wellness began for me.
Good Habits Begin to Form
One run leads to another. I found myself paying attention to things I had previously ignored:
It wasn’t perfect at the start, but eventually, I was doing one thing consistently. And soon, other healthy habits followed.

Find Your Own Pace
One of the most refreshing things about joining the Lazada Run was realizing there’s no single way to do it. Some people sprint, others jog, and some, like me, walk and take it all in. That’s the point. You stop comparing yourself to others and start listening to your own body and pace. You learn that progress doesn’t have to be loud or fast to be real.
Become Part of Something Bigger
On race day, everything comes together. What started as a personal goal becomes a shared moment. When thousands of people show up, each with their own "why," the energy is infectious. Events like Laz Run 2023 turn running into a community experience, where motivation comes not just from within, but from the people surrounding you.

The Finish Line Isn’t the Only Win
Crossing the finish line feels great, no doubt about that. But everything that led up to it--the mornings you showed up and the days that went anyway--made me feel like a champ. It’s the small decisions that slowly build discipline without it feeling forced.
Signing up for a race might seem like a one-day commitment, but it often becomes more than a physical test. For me, it was a mental reset. I proved to myself that I can set a goal, stick to a plan, and deliver. The discipline I gained followed me back to the office, into my home, and into every new challenge I face.
